[in the Greater Grail cavern of Singularity F]

Gilgamesh:

So this was where the Greater Grail met its end.
…Hmph. An unsightly end, indeed.

From what I’ve heard, if it had gone correctly, the ritual would have been somewhat effective.

Mashu:

…Um, Gilgamesh, do you know of the Greater Grail?

Gilgamesh:

……

Mashu:

F-Forgive me… It was insolent of me to speak to you directly…

Gilgamesh:

It’s fine. You are a Demi-Servant, are you not? In that case, I pardon your impudence. But henceforth, you shall address me as king.

Mashu:

Y-Yes! Th-Th-Then, I will call you the King of Heroes from now on!

Dr. Roman:

Well, well! The scary king of ancient Uruk is awfully nice to you, Mashu.
So, do you have any thoughts on the Grail?

Gilgamesh:

Magus. No, you name yourself “Doctor,” yes? Then I shall call you a physician.

Physician from the future. What is your “Chaldea” supposed to be?
I don’t just mean the Demi-Servant. You’ve set an impossible task to this fledgling here as well.
Before me stands an inadequate warrior and a Master I find difficult to even call a neophyte.
Did you really hope to safeguard humanity with such a pitiable duo?

Dr. Roman:

That’s some tough criticism, but I’m pretty torn up over it too. Isn’t that right, Gudao-kun?

  1. There aren’t any other Masters.
  2. Even if we’re amateurs, we have no choice but to fight.

Mashu:

Sen- No, our Master is right. I know we don’t meet your expectations, but Chaldea doesn’t have anyone else left that can fight.
King of Heroes, we can only hope to grow stronger by fighting.

Gilgamesh:

You say you fight because you have no choice. If you truly possess such conviction, then I will question you no further.

Humans are creatures that only display their abilities when striving to achieve a benefit to themselves.
Gudao. Mashu. Make sure that you have something to gain in this war.

Before that, however, let us first ascertain a profit for myself. If not, I will eventually become your foe.

Mashu:

O-Our enemy!? S-S-Senpai, what could the King of Heroes be hoping to gain!?
Treasure? It’s treasure, right? But we don’t have anything that could possibly satisfy him!

  1. Yeah, we’re so poor I wish we could find some!
  2. Help, Doctor!

Gilgamesh:

Calm down. I don’t want any of your possessions. What I want from you is that.

Monster:

FUUUUuuuuuuuu—————

Mashu:

Shadow Servants!? We’re surrounded, Master!

Gilgamesh:

I called forth these ghosts. Gudao, with these, I shall measure your worth.
You will certainly win, but not overwhelmingly so. At least, win in a way that amuses me. That is what I seek from you.

Dr. Roman:

Oh, so you’re just testing your Master? In that case, there’s no need to hold back.
Gudao-kun, Mashu! Show His Majesty your power.
And, of course, don’t forget to issue orders to the King of Heroes. Right now, you’re his Master.

  1. Y-Yes, sir!
  2. I’ll do my best to command!

Gilgamesh:

Good grief, you talkative physician. Gudao, if he is your superior, you’ve a tiring road ahead.
But he speaks the truth. Despite your inexperience, you are the one I have formed a pact with.
Fear me, revere me, and fulfill your obligation as contractor!

[battle]

Gilgamesh:

That’s it. How does it feel to have survived a Holy Grail War of the past?

  1. That was a Holy Grail War?
  2. I rather enjoyed it…

Gilgamesh:

Good, good. It slightly amused me as well. The sight of your desperate floundering will be a fine way to pass the time.

That is what I gain from this. For now, anyway.

Dr. Roman:

Huh. Is the King of Heroes a misanthrope?
Gudao-kun aside, are you saying that humanity isn’t worth protecting?

Gilgamesh:

Are you an idiot? I neither love nor hate humans. I merely say that humans themselves have no value.

Mashu:

Huh?

Gilgamesh:

Remember this. Humans are worthless. But, the things that humans create  have value.
I only love achievements. Never forget my words, and dwell on them.

[Gilgamesh leaves]

Dr. Roman:

…I see. So he’s that sort of king. Yet another Heroic Spirit that’ll be tough to work with.
But it’s sure enough that he’s a powerful Servant. His strength will serve us well until the end.
It’s a difficult job, but good luck, Gudao-kun. I’ll leave the King of Heroes’ hand-holding to you.

  1. Y-Yeah…
  2. I’m not feeling so confident…

Mashu:

Ch-Cheer up, Senpai! I’ll be right behind you!

Fou:

Foh, foh.
